What is the difference between St Pete and many other cities of similar size in Florida (or most of the US, as a matter of fact)? This is it: apart from some US cities like New York, Chicago, and San Francisco, who have their own vibes and soul; many US cities are rather calm places after PM 08.00. when guests have left the restaurants and gone home to spend the evening. Apart from some common restaurant locations, the evening life is a rather sedate thing. Not so in St Pete.
If you are a person from Europe, you will right away get the feeling that you are back in the old world. The way it is all nights in the southern part of Europe, the Mediterranean night life of Italy, France, Spain and Greece. Lots of people, even families, out at night. They are going in and out of restaurants and sidewalk bars, shops are open, there is a thriving street life at least until AM 01.00. For myself, having spent many years living in southern Spain, I felt at home. And that I was. And this is St Pete at night. How come? We will talk about that later…
